Seasoned Tradelines Explained: Age, Limits and Payment History
You’ll often see tradelines described as seasoned. A seasoned tradeline is simply an account that has been open for a long time with a clean record. Here’s why those details matter.
Account age
Length of credit history makes up about 15% of a FICO score. An older tradeline can raise the average age of your accounts, especially if all of your own accounts are new.
Credit limit
A higher limit with a low balance adds available credit, which lowers your overall credit utilization. If you carry balances on your own cards, a high-limit tradeline can make a noticeable difference.
Payment history
This is non-negotiable. A tradeline with even one late payment can hurt you. Every Tradeline Tribe tradeline has a perfect payment history.
Utilization on the tradeline itself
The card’s own balance matters too. A seasoned card that’s maxed out won’t help your utilization. Look for tradelines that report a low balance; ours stay at 10% or lower.
